I began my morning with a quick walk around my backyard. I enjoyed filling my bird feeders, anticipating the arrival of beautiful songbirds throughout the day. As I finished my task and wandered back inside, a song began playing in my mind. Out of nowhere I heard the lyrics…

“But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that’s why I love you
So don’t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow”

“True Colors” by Cindi Lauper filled my heart and lifted my spirit. Just then I heard the ping on my cell phone. I opened it to discover a dear friend had sent me the above meme – reminding me to let my true colors shine.

I received this as a God-incidence. The God of Wonder, the God of Creation, chose to speak to me this morning through what others may see as random acts. They are not random, and they are so necessary to me. My day has been full of ups and downs, and while I don’t always do so well in the “downs,” God reminds me that He is always with me and gives me courage to brush off the dust and try again.
